CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR DASH WINNERS!
Hooray for The Concord Players, who waltzed away with four (count 'em, four!) DASH wins, all for The Scarlet Pimpernel: Brian Harris tied with another designer for Best Set Design, Musical (his third year in a row as a winner for set design); Linda McConchie for Best Set Dressing, Musical; Charlie Atherton, Cheri Fletcher, and Lisbeth Cahill for Best Hair and Makeup Design, Musical; and Tracy Wall, for Best Costume Design, Musical.
The awards ceremony was a wonderful and well- attended event in Cary Hall, Lexington. It was impressive how supportive the respective groups were with each
other. The nominees were culled from 110 different productions across eastern Massachusetts, and receiving a nomination in and of itself was a significant
achievement.

JOIN US AT THE FALL HUDDLE!
 Mark your calendars for the Fall Huddle, October 17 at 7 p.m. Here you
will have a chance to
hear from all three directors: Roxanne Myhrum, Crossing Delancey; John
Alzapiedi, Breaking Legs; and Michael McGarty, Dirty Rotten
Scoundrels, our Spring musical; they will give their visions of the
productions they will be directing. There will also be a sneak preview of Crossing Delancey. Food and refreshments will be served, and a small entertainment staged. A
great night out for everyone.
PROPS CATALOGED AND ORGANIZED
Have
you seen the basement at 51 Walden lately? Charlotte Kelley and a crew
of eager volunteers from the National Charity League recently completed the big job of organizing and
cataloging The Players' extensive collection of fabric, props and set pieces. The NCL volunteers also helped do the same with costumes.
Kudos to them! No more looking like the Collyer brothers mansion for us!

MARYJAC HATCH
 There will be a memorial service for long-time Concord Players member MaryJac Hatch on September 19 at 4:30 at 51 Walden. All are welcome, but if you do come, please RSVP to her daughter Carrie Flood: call 978-369-8378 or email carrieF15@msn.com
MaryJac passed away on March 3, 2010. She was active in community affairs of Concord and Orleans, and hosted visitors from more than 100 countries over the years. She was a trained artist, who created and sold custom-drawn cards, bookplates and posters.
MaryJac and her husband Dick had been faithful participants and audience members of The Players for nearly half a century. Separately or together, they designed, constructed and painted award-winning sets for the Players over a period of twenty years or more, before moving to Orleans on the Cape. Both served as President of The Players and Mary-Jac was twice Treasurer. They held opening night subscriptions to Players productions for decades, and continued to drive up from Orleans each opening night after they moved. MaryJac will be sorely missed by all her friends in The Players.

CLIFF BEAN
It is our sad duty to report that Cliff Bean died  August 28. He had been active with both FOPAC and The Players for many years, appearing in Kiss Me Kate, The King and I, and Tomfoolery for The Concord Players, and for other groups, How to Succeed in Business and The Music Man. He also sang tenor in Concord's River City All Stars Quartet. According to Dorrie, his widow, there will be a celebratory party in his memory, probably in October.
CROSSING DELANCEY
The Fall
production of Crossing
Delancey opens November 5, 2010, with a grand opening-night
reception planned and coordinated by Jill Henderson and Anne Bantly. We
hope you will tell your friends to come to this wonderful story of old
traditions and generational bonds.
LEARN HOW TO DO IT
The make-up designer for Crossing Delancey is inviting anyone who is interested in learning about stage makeup to
give us a call and sign up to learn more during the show. This is a
great opportunity to learn some of the tricks of the trade. If you are
interested in getting involved in this area, or other areas of

ACTOR NEEDED FOR FALL HUDDLE PLAY
For
a short, two-character play, about 12 minutes, to be performed at the
Concord Players' Fall Huddle on Sunday, October 17th, we are seeking a
good-looking young actor who can comfortably play age 17 or a bit more,
a naive young man about to start his first job; being tall would be a
plus! Auditions to be soon after Labor Day; 4 or 5 rehearsals in

MICHAEL T. MCGARTY
 Michael will be directing our Spring musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Of that show, he says, " 'What goes around, comes around,' so the saying goes. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a whirlwind of twists and turns set in motion by two rival con men competing to swindle the same woman. Set among the breezy beaches and glitzy fashions of the French Riviera, this musical comedy pays tribute to the shows of the 1920s and 1930s with catchy tunes in the style of Cole Porter and free-wheeling comedy that takes flim-flam to its highest level."
Michael is artistic director of Harvard Community Theatre and Producing Director of the Bromfield Drama Society, and has directed more than 100 shows for various theatre groups and colleges, several of which were award-winning productions. His experience includes working as a stage technician on Broadway. His educational background is in French and French theatre, with postgrad work in directing and technical design.
